Friends

I took my cares to friends—to one, to two--maybe, three!
Jesus, how long since I took my cares to you?
Advice was given, concern expressed,
No real solutions for my many worries and stress!

Thank God, I finally see!
Who has laid down their life for me?
Michael, Jane, Sally, Sue?
No! Only you, Lord, only you!

Friends shall come and friends shall go,
Sad, yet I know this is so!
Their words and advice diminish as foam on the sea,
Still, when their words pass away, Lord, Yours will always be!
